Research Archive

Documents, recordings and photographs behind the book.

Molly Blackburn: Witness for Justice grew out of three years of gathering fragments of memory – recollections, photographs, newspaper reports, letters and testimonies of people who knew Molly. The archive opens those treasures to readers, researchers and learners.

Now live: the Uitenhage recording

In the middle of the book there is a dramatic chapter about Molly Blackburn leading a delegation of Black Sash women to Uitenhage. She had a dictaphone recorder with her, and recorded their conversation in the car. Scan the QR code in the book, or press play here on the site, to hear Molly and Di in their own words.
